Breaking news

According to NPR, GM says its first female CEO will take over next month.  Does this change your attitudes  at all about gender equality in the workplace?

Here is another article on the promotion of Mary Barra.

Learning this does somewhat change my idea, but that is just a small breakthrough because the overall percentage of women having a high position in big corporations is still so very low. so I think for it to have a major impact on my opinion of inequality in the workplace, the percentage would need to have a dramatic rise for women.

Knowing that the first CEO for GM will be a woman just shows that women overall are making their way up the ladder when it comes to being equal with them at work. This article says that "companies with women on their boards had higher average returns on equity and higher growth," so maybe having a women as a CEO is a good thing because it's good for business.
