Drones: The Best Option?

Robert Gates, the former Defense Secretary under Bush and Obama, outlines here why drones are the best tool we currently have to fight terrorism, but could use more oversight to ensure that the sitting President (and any future President) does not abuse his power as commander-in-chief.

After seeing some of the statistics in this article, does this change your mind about drones?  Is this our best, most precise option to take out known terrorists?  Does collateral damage even matter?  comments and thoughts below!

There is a a lot of controversy concerning if drones are good or bad when the simple fact is neither-due to the pro's and con's. Drones being aimed at enemies by our own President is wrong. The President should be the one to set an example for our country and taking one's life should not be the answer . Especially considering the fact that it kills innocent people in the process. It does not matter if drones kill a " small amount " compared to a large amount of innocent people , its the fact that it kills any innocent people in general. There has to be another form of action that does not violate the fifth amendment.

I still feel that Drones are a bad idea especially when we involve the statistics and how many people may be harmed from this. The Drones kill innocent people(even children),I feel like we can find some other alternative to attack the problem of terrorist. Besides only a very small amount of high risk terrorist die from Drones. Therefore Drones shouldn't even be an option when concerning terrorism.

I feel that drones still aren't the best option when it comes to handling terrorists because the do kill innocent people (sometimes American citizens), but at the same time according to the article the number of innocent victims killed is very small (actually a lot smaller than what we think it is). If this is how we're going to have to keep terrorists from attacking the US, I'd rather it be another countries' casualties than our own because I value American citizens lives more. Even though they aren't considered high risk terrorist, doesn't mean they aren't terrorists, so it shouldn't really be considered an issue if they're taken out by drones.
