The main role President Obama is playing here is chief diplomat. As chief diplomat, the president is responsible for the relationship the US has with foreign countries, in this case, Israel. The article states that "President Barack Obama has moved to reassure Israel that the US remains its staunchest supporter, amid Israeli fears over last week's outline agreement on Iran's nuclear programme." This is an example of him carrying out his role as the chief diplomat because he is securing a positive relationship between the US and Israel. A secondary role that he is playing is the role of commander in chief. The commander in chief is responsible for military matters, like controlling nuclear power. President Obama took advantage of an opportunity that required "Iran [to] slash its stockpile of enriched uranium that could be used in a nuclear weapon, and cut by more than two-thirds the number of centrifuges that could be used to make more." Although it was not our nuclear power he was controlling, he used his power as the commander in chief to prevent Iran from misusing their nuclear power to start a nuclear war.
The main role President Obama is acting in upon the deal with Iran is chief diplomat. Chief diplomat is the designer of the American foreign policy relationships by definition. In this deal President Obama is basically saying with nuclear "If you scratch my back, i will scratch yours with better care." This is shown in the statement made by President Obama "He said Iran and the rest of the region should know that "if anybody messes with Israel, America will be there"." The secondary role that the President is showing is chief legislator because he is wanting and hoping for the best interest of the United States. ""We want Iran not to have nuclear weapons precisely because we can't bank on the nature of the regime changing. That's exactly why we don't want to have nuclear weapons," he said. "If suddenly Iran transformed itself to Germany or Sweden or France, then there would be a different set of conversations about their nuclear infrastructure."" In this statement, President Obama wants to ensure that Iran will not change and if it does so happen to change, America will be safe and OK. Overall, the president needs to have peace for nuclear problems with other nations.
I think the primary role the president is playing here is chief diplomat. The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has concerns that the deal that the President has struck with the Iranian government isn’t efficient because it doesn’t take into account the “illicit facilities” that the Iranians use covertly to enrich uranium. The chief diplomat’s role is to be the chief spokesperson to other nations and craft American foreign policy. By comfort the Israeli Prime Minister the President “In a phone call, told Sultan Qaboos that the US would work "with Oman and other regional partners to address Iran's destabilising activities in the region"” the President shows chief diplomacy. The secondary role I think he’s displaying is chief of state. The chief of state represents the president as being a symbol of the nation as a whole and when President Obama made the statement "if anybody messes with Israel, America will be there” I feel as though he attempted to establish the security or Israel by letting the Prime Minister know that he has an entire nation protecting him.
President Obama’s primary role in dealing with the Iran nuclear crisis is as Chief Diplomat. While trying to lessen Iran’s progress toward having nuclear weapons he is also trying to preserve the US’s relationship with Israels. One of the most crucial roles of Chief Diplomat is negotiating agreements with other nations. This is exactly what Obama is doing, the US as part of the P5+1 group of powers is attempting to decrease the uranium and centrifuge technology in Iran. As part of the compromise they are offering to lift many of the sanctions which the UN has placed on Iran including trade bans, oil export limitations, and travel bans which have strangled Iran’s economy. Aside from the P5+1 group the US also heavily communicates with Israel who is fearful of Iran developing nuclear weapons as the Iranians believe Israel should not exist. Obama is also playing the secondary role of Chief of State. The role of the Chief of State is to serve as a symbol and model both to the American people and to foreign nations. In this situation he is serving as a symbol of American power as the leader of political decisions internationally. For the past 50 years America has been extremely powerful on the global level and Obama’s continued foreign affairs involvement reinforces this symbolic power.
The primary role that President Obama is playing in this particular situation is chief diplomat, since he is communicating with foreign countries, and trying to keep a decent relationship with both Iran and Israel, which is basically the duties of a chief diplomat. We don't have a great relationship with Israel, and Mr. Obama is doing his best to work out a nuclear agreement with Iran's foreign minster Javad Zarif, while also staying faithful to Israel, especially when he confirmed "if anybody messes with Israel, America will be there" he also went on to say "I would consider it a failure on my part, a fundamental failure of my presidency, if on my watch, or as a consequence of work that I had done, Israel was rendered more vulnerable". The basic definition of a commander in chief is a head of state or officer in supreme command of a country's armed forces, which I think is the secondary role that Mr. Obama is playing here. Like I quoted earlier, President Obama stated that "if anybody messes with Israel, America will be there" which means that our troops will be there to protect or help them, which is using his power to control our armed forces. Also, by going and making a deal with Iran's leader Javad Zarif, he was controlling THEIR armed forces in the sense of nuclear weapons, which is branching out from his normal power and using it elsewhere. To Mr. Obama, this deal was not even a question, he said "it would be akin to saying the US would not seal a deal unless the Iranian regime completely transformed"in response to the "fundamental misjudgment"which was a call by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu that any deal be conditional on Iran recognising Israel. Clearly, Mr. Obama knows his responsibilities, and knows how to use his powers to address them.
The primary role that President Barack Obama plays is Chief Diplomat. As Chief Diplomat Obama is in charged of foreign relations with other countries. In the article Israel has concerns about Iran nuclear weapons the contain and Obama is trying to help Israel with their concerns while also trying to have relations with Iran as well. In the article Obama said that Israel has every right to be concerned about the situation. "A country that threatened to destroy Israel". It also says in the article that "President Barack Obama has reassured Israel that it will remain it staunchest supporter" this is one way he carries out his duties as Chief Diplomat. Another duty he carries is being the commander in chief. Commander and Chief is in charged of all military negotiations. "We want Iran to have Nuclear weapons because we cant bank on the nature of regime change". Is way he carries out the role of being Commander and Chief. He is the one that will make the right calls in any of the situations.
President Obama’s primary role is chief diplomat in this situation. As chief diplomat, the president handles foreign decisions, and diplomatic relations. This includes negotiating treaties, and moderating between countries. In this case, President Obama is the chief diplomat in trying to reduce Iran’s nuclear activity. He sees Iran’s nuclear activity to be threatening to areas around Iran such as “Israel,” and “Oman.” Iran itself is not in a stable condition, so President Obama is trying to limit any chance of hurting Israel. His secondary role in this situation is as Commander in Chief. In this position, he can use drones, start nuclear war, and coordinate the army and navy. If the Iran talks do not go as plan, President Obama has the authority to utilize those options to stabilize the situation. The main goal is to settle the Iran nuclear talks peacefully.
The role of the president that Obama is playing in this instant is the power of Chief Diplomat, in the article Obama is using his power as chief diplomat to negotiate with Iran to get them to recognize Israel as a genuine state and respect for the Jewish state. The other power that he is trying to use is the power of Commander in Chief because in the article Obama said that “We want Iran not to have nuclear weapons precisely because we can't bank on the nature of the regime changing. That's exactly why we don't want to have nuclear weapons.” In this he shows his military decisiveness when talking about the nuclear talk sessions.
Obama is playing the role of chief diplomat in this issue by regulating the relationship the US keeps with Israel. According to the article, "Obama has moved to reassure Israel that the U.S. remains its staunchest supporter..." This shows Obama's main role directly. The secondary role that Obama is playing is Commander in Chief, which is demonstrated by Obama's attempts to limit nuclear weapons in Iran. Obama says that "we want Iran not to have nuclear weapons precisely because we can't bank on the nature of the regime changing." This shows that Obama is dealing with military issues.
In this situation, the president plays the role as a chief diplomat. A chief diplomat is one who communicates with foreign countries. Here, Obama is making a deal with Iran in order to limit the "spread of nuclear weapons in the Middle East". This shows Obama as a chief diplomat because he is negotiating with Iran and trying to balance the goal of less weapons and sustain America's relationship with Israel at the same time. He negotiates with Iran that they must destroy its "stockpile of enriched uranium: and decrease the amount of centrifuges". Obama is also quoted in the article saying "if anybody messes with Israel, America will be there", which portrays America's loyal relations with Israel. His secondary role is as chief of state. A chief of state represents the figurehead of a nation. Obama's decisions in creating an agreement with Iran represents the decisions of America towards other nations. Israel has reacted to this decision negatively because of concern with the prime minister stating it was a "very bad deal". Obama's settlement demonstrates his authority and is symbolic as his leadership of representing America.
President Obama’s primary role in this situation is of chief diplomat. The reason this is, is because he is handling foreign decisions and diplomatic relations.
The reason I say that he is playing the role of chief diplomat is because he is setting up a positive relationship between the US and Israel. He wants to protect them from carrying out nuclear activities. He is carrying out foreign aid to help out Israel. By providing them protection he is building relationships. President Obama says that Iran and the rest of the region should know that "if anybody messes with Israel, America will be there"
Obama plays the secondary role of commander in Chief. He provides protection for Israel and shows that if any body dares mess with Israel then they have the whole nation of United States to fight behind them. Though President Obama wants to settle the Iran nuclear talk peacefully has every right to take actions as necessary.
Obama’s primary role in chief diplomat is with Israel. Obama has to maintain a relationship, including negotiating with the nations. U.S doesn’t have a great relationship with these foreign countries; therefore he has to build relationship bonds in order to keep contact. We feel that Iran’s nuclear weapons are a threat to us and we are concerned about these weapons on their hands. “ We want Iran not to have nuclear weapons..” This shows concerns about the threats towards America, how negotiating will be difficult, question foreign armories. Second role Obama plays is Commander in chief, in charge of military actions, keep watch of foreign countries through people and technologies. I think its important for Obama to have a discussion towards nuclear weapons but Obama cant question them about it.
The role the president is playing is Chief Diplomat through his travel and relations with the foreign country. As Chief Diplomat, Obama discusses matters relevant to Iran and their situations, providing his support. He states in the article, "I would consider it a failure on my part, a fundamental failure of my presidency, if on my watch, or as a consequence of work that I had done, Israel was rendered more vulnerable”. Obama secures the close ties between the two countries. The article further supports this through stating, “President Barack Obama has moved to reassure Israel that the US remains its staunchest supporter”.
The secondary role Obama is playing is Commander in Chief since the article discusses the control of armed forces, “UN sanctions and separate measures imposed unilaterally by the US and EU will be gradually suspended as the global nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), confirms Iranian compliance.” As commander in Chief, he helps provide his input on the decisions regarding the nuclear power. He also, serves as chief of state through his representation of the nation as a whole and stating in the article, “President Barack Obama has moved to reassure Israel that the US remains its staunchest supporter”.
President Obama's role is to play the chief diplomat. As a chief diplomat, "The president decides what American diplomats and ambassadors shall say to foreign governments. With the help of advisers, the president makes the foreign policy of the United States. (scholastic.com)" From the article we can see how he shows this: "President Barack Obama has moved to reassure Israel that the US remains its staunchest supporter, amid Israeli fears over last week's outline agreement on Iran's nuclear programme. He said Iran and the rest of the region should know that "if anybody messes with Israel, America will be there." But he rejected a call by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu that any deal be conditional on Iran recognising Israel.Mr Obama said such a condition would be "a fundamental misjudgement." Obama is doing this so Israel and the U.S. can end off in happier terms. He is also playing as the commander in chief as his secondary role. A commander in chief by definition from google is: "an officer in charge of a major subdivision of a country's armed forces, or of its forces in a particular area." Obama's main role is to make sure that all the equipment is used in a necessary way in order to establish good terms with Israel.
In this scenario the most significant role which President Obama plays is being the chief diplomat. As chief diplomat the president has the sole power to negotiate treaties with other nations as long as he has 2/3 approval of senate or executive agreement which is made with the heads of a foreign government. In this case Obama is seeking to reduce the nuclear activity of Iran and he negotiated a treaty with them in order to cut their stockpile of uranium in order to slow nuclear production. On the other hand Israel doesn’t necessarily agree with the treaty which the U.S. has negotiated with Iran, although Obama has stated that the U.S. would always defend Israel no matter how things turned out. This also ties into the secondary roll which Obama plays in this aspect as commander in chief, if anything was to take place Obama would be in charge of the control of the military and issuing and executive order with Congress first declaring war.
Obama is demonstrating the primary role of Chief diplomat. This means that he is dealing with negotiations and positive relationship establishments with foreign countries. Obama is taking on this role by saying Israel has full support from the U.S. As far as a secondary role goes, Obama is demonstrating the role of commander in chief. This role is associated with military action and somewhat of a military defense. "Under the terms reached last Thursday, Iran must slash its stockpile of enriched uranium that could be used in a nuclear weapon, and cut by more than two-thirds the number of centrifuges that could be used to make more." This shows that Obama is trying to cut the majority of Uranium from Iran to minimize their easy access to nuclear weaponry.
The primary role that President Obama is playing in this situation is chief diplomat As chief diplomat he deals with foreign affairs like communicating with other countries and negotiating treaties. He is negotiating a treaty with Iran to decrease nuclear production and to protect and support Israel. The article stated, "He said Iran and the rest of the region should know that 'if anybody messes with Israel, America will be there."
His secondary role is as commander in chief who makes decisions on military action. In this case, he is trying to limit the nuclear activity and production in Iran. He also defends Israel and claims the U.S. to be there "staunchest supporter" and warns that America will be there to protect them.
The President’s main role here is chief diplomat. As chief diplomat he has the power to make treaties that are then subject to ratification by the Senate. He wants to keep Iran from having the ability to produce nuclear weapons so he’s basically leading the US in these negotiations. “We want Iran not to have nuclear weapons precisely because we can't bank on the nature of the regime changing. That's exactly why we don't want to have nuclear weapons” It’s up to him and the secretary of state to strike a deal but the president will have the final approval of the deal. His secondary role is that even though he approves the deal he still has to get Congress to approve it and ease the sanction or the deal won’t go through. This could possibly be his role as Commander in Chief because of the military decision he is attempting to make.
The Presidents main role in this case is chief diplomat, and this is because of his negotiations with Israel that are supposed to continue good relations between the U.S. and our only ally in the Middle East. Former president of Iran, Ahmadinejad, claimed that he wanted Israel to “disappear”, clearly meaning that he wants it to be as if Israel never existed hinting at his desire to use nuclear weapons. Now, President Obama’s role is to provide Israel with some assurance in their safety, because Israel stands alone in most of its problems. President Obama is also playing, as his secondary role, Commander in chief. Obama is using foreign policy to negotiate with Iran so that Iran cannot obtain nuclear power. Obama is trying to prevent a very destructive war, and he must negotiate with Iran to lift the sanctions placed upon them in return for exploring their nuclear facilities.

President Obama's role that he is playing here is Chief Diplomat. As Chief Diplomat President Obama has the power and is able to engage in foreign affairs and is the leader of the foreign affair for the United States of America. President Obama is trying to make sure that Iran doesn't progress into their engagement of having nuclear weapons but, at the same time he is trying to keep strong ties between Israel and keep a strong relationship with them. Obama has been assuring Israel that the U.S. will be there and has their back. A secondary role President Obama plays is Commander in Chief. This role is being shown because Obama is head of the military and is basically telling and putting it out there to make it clear to any country that wants to fight Israel, will have to fight America as well. At the same time President Obama is trying to keep peace to make sure no one has to go to war or fight each other and that things can be resolved peacefully thats why he keeps trying to come up with a peace treaty with Iran.
Obama’s main role is acting as Chief Diplomat, crafting the U.S. foreign policy and deciding what American diplomats and ambassadors say to foreign governments. As chief diplomat, President Obama has chosen to make a deal with Iran that some foreign countries disagree with. To diffuse the worries of foreign nations, President Obama has made it clear to them that he will maintain strong allegiance with Israel and would see it as a “fundamental failure of my [his] presidency, if on my [his] watch…Israel was rendered more vulnerable.” President Obama’s secondary role in this issue is Commander in Chief. He plays this role in this issue because, if Iran were to use their new found nuclear power against an ally nation of the U.S., President Obama would have the power to utilize military options in order to restore peace.
Obama is playing Chief Diplomat. As a chief diplomat, Obama has the responsibility for maintaining the relationship between US and foreign countries, especially with Israel. "President Barack Obama has moved to reassure Israel that the US remains its staunchest supporter...". This is an example of his role as a chief diplomat. Another role that Obama is playing is commander in chief where he is responsible for military powers, which is in this case, nuclear power. " 'We want Iran not to have nuclear weapons precisely because we can't bank on the nature of the regime changing. That's exactly why we don't want to have nuclear weapons. he said.'" Although Obama isn't controlling the nuclear weapons in America, he is still involved with foreign countries that deal with nuclear weapons.
President Obama is playing the role of chief diplomat where the responsibilities include interacting with foreign nations. In this case he is particularily interacting with Israel and America’s support behind the country with the promise that nuclear activities would be put to a stop. This making deals with a foreign country is what displays the role he is acting as chief diplomat, the article even noting that he had directly spoken to Sultan Qaboos “In a phone call, he told Sultan Qaboos that the us would work “with Oman and other regional partners to address Iran’s destabilizing activies in the region””. The secondary role that Obama is playing is Commander in Chief where the responsibility includes the command of the country’s armed forces. The deal at hand includes the terms that “Iran must slash its stockpile of enriched uranium that could be used in a nuclear weapon, and cut by more than two-thirds the number of centrifuges that could be used to make more.” The inclusion of terms such as these is a tactic that the Commander in Chief is using to avoid future altercations.
President Obamas main role is chief diplomat. Basically what he does is be responsible for the relationship that the us has with other foreign countries. In this case with Israel, that article states that "President Barack Obama has moved to reassure Israel that the US remains its staunchest supporter, amid Israeli fears over last week's outline agreement on Iran's nuclear programme" This shows him doing his job since hes having a good relationship with Israel. The role of the Chief of State is to serve as a symbol and model both to the American people and to foreign nations. In this situation he is serving as a symbol of American power as the leader of political decisions internationally. For the past 50 years America has been extremely powerful on the global level and Obama’s continued foreign affairs involvement reinforces the responsibility of his power.
President Obama is being more of a chief diplomat by making treaties with foreign countries such as Israel and Iran. A chief diplomat interacts with foreign nations by making agreements and by proposing treaties. He expressed his role when he "sought to reassure Oman about the effects of a nuclear deal with Iran. " This action displays Mr. Obama's intentions and his power as a chief diplomat. The secondary role he plays is commander in chief because he made a deal with Iran that if the nuclear supply decreased the military forces from the UN and such would back off. The commander in chief has control of the military and some war powers.
The main role Obama is playing is chief diplomat. As chief diplomat, he is responsible for foreign parties and making sure that we negotiate to make sure everyone is safe. Obama is doing this by saying "Iran and the rest of the region should know that "if anybody messes with Israel, America will be there." This is providing them with social stability and reassurance. Obama wants to make sure that this time he is trusted and will make sure not to let anybody down. Obama is also playing the secondary role of commander in chief because he is watching the forces and making sure nobody is being hurt.
President Obama must always juggle many hats in the timespan of a day, but in the situation with Israel, he must act as chief diplomat. In this role, he maintains the power to talk with and negotiate with foreign nations. The article states, “President Barack Obama has moved to reassure Israel that the US remains its staunchest supporter, amid Israeli fears over last week's outline agreement on Iran's nuclear programme”. The President has made it one of his goals to develop and maintain a strong connection between the two countries. As the leader of a world superpower, it is important that he represents the United States in a positive light and makes an effort towards demonstrating American principles.
It seems like the President is there to reassure allies of U.S. support as in Israel, negotiate treaties, and assess the security of our country in certain situations like between Iran’s nuclear issue and Israel. President Obama is initiating his role as Chief Diplomat between foreign nations. For example, “In a phone call, he told Sultan Qaboos that the US would work "with Oman and other regional partners to address Iran's destabilizing activities in the region". This means that the President worked with other nations to help secure the Oman as allies and reassure the Sultan of our support and continued effort for peace. A secondary role the president plays is the Commander in Chief with control of military activities like when the article states, “Critics have accused President Obama of conceding too much ground to Iran and endangering Israel's security.” President Obama is between the negotiations and it is up to him to keep not only our country safe, but those of our allies and when one is in trouble, he can step in with military support to reinforce agreements. Also, due to Obama making deal negotiations with Iran, he then can control the situation from a militant stand point.
